NEWS FOR HOLISTIC PRACTITIONERS

THE SBO CONNECTION TO HOLISTIC HEALTH

IBS is the number one cause of work-related absence according to Harvard Women's Health Watch, April 2004.

A toxic colon is also a leading cause of chronic fatigue and the pandemic of common "dis-ease", as can be read at "The Colon Connection".

Having developed three holistic health centers, I'm well aware that the "bottom line" to health is the GI tract.  And of all the complementary therapies, there's nothing like a good probiotic to boost immunity or re-seed a fresh-flushed colon "seed bed".

Probiotics fascinate me. Too many people are burdened by a toxic gut and a toxic biological terrain, including the brain. That leads to toxic feelings and stinking thinking -- the holistic consequences of a toxic gut.  The value of a good probiotic is huge for holistic health.

You may be aware of the breakthrough work with SBO's (Soil-Based Organisms) -- the cutting-edge of probiotic science.  There is a little-known company that has focused on SBO research with six years of peer-reviewed Clinical Development, Tests and Evaluation (CDTE).

If results be the guru, we now have a new leader in probiotic efficacy.  The formula has a unique synergy (symbiosis) with 30 SBO's formulated with a unique "prebiotic" -- an SBO micronutrient catalyst that is activated in the gut.

Doctors were the first to get this product. It's called Prescript-Assist (PA), because it provides assistance to the toxic gut caused by most drug prescriptions, especially antibiotics.  Holistic practitioners of complementary medicine naturally love this product.  Unfortunately, it's virtually unknown after just a few years of limited market exposure.

The CEO of this research company is an old friend who had been bugging me to come out of retirement as a spokesman for PA, so I've been watching their progress carefully.  As I did my own market research, I realized what PA is up against -- no brand recognition.  Actually it has virtually no market recognition at all.  I soon learned why.  In order to keep the price as low as possible, it has no mass marketing behind it.  Since nutraceutical-grade SBOs require a very labor intensive lab process that's not conducive to mass production, they are more expensive.

The research company behind PA decided to sell on quality because they could. They've been happy to keep the price lower by growing the company "organically" with word-of-mouth referrals -- just a few hundred holistic practitioners and health food stores who swear by the product.  For example:

"We have been offering Prescript-Assist since December of 2005.
It is the best product I've ever seen for Inflammatory Bowel Disease
including Crohns and Colitis. To their delight, my customers are
seeing huge improvements, especially where bleeding is present.
They continually reorder the product."

The only thing close to PA is Primal Defense which touts itself as the "leading probiotic".  The more I talked with colon therapists in my market research, the more I heard about Primal Defense's strong brand recognition.  I was obviously curious how it compared to Prescript-Assist™.

If you look at the label of Primal Defense, you'll notice that it has a few SBO's, but it is mostly fillers with whole food concentrates and inexpensive lactobacillus and bifidus strains.  Labels require that the most used ingredients are listed first, and the cheapest fillers in Primal Defense (barley grass and oat grass) are listed first.  Then come the lactobacillus and bifidus strains.  Last are a token number of SBO's in proportionally small quantities.

Primal Defense is "market driven" with impressive packaging and big budget promotion.  Prescript-Assist™ is research driven -- a predominantly SBO formula with peer-reviewed clinical trials validating superior efficacy.  Whereas PA has emphasized results, Primal Defense leads people to believe it is the leading probiotic when in fact it only leads in marketing sales, not efficacy results.

I realize that brand recognition with marketing hype leads to sales. The power of belief is as motivating as the power of science.  When people believe religiously in a pill -- placebo or probiotic -- it becomes a "self-fulfilling prophecy" (the placebo effect).  When you combine the best of both worlds -- belief and good science -- then you naturally get optimal results.

Sufficient dose with PA is two capsules per day for a week with one cap per day for maintenance. No refrigeration is needed for at least three years.

Good science is verifiable.  Give Prescript-Assist™ your own clinical trial.  The results will speak for themselves.

For a good gut feeling,
